NATIOBAL CHILDREN'S MONTH

Image
The 33rd National Children’s Month celebration in the Philippines carries the powerful theme:  “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”  This theme underscores the growing concern over  Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC)  and  Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) . In today’s digital age, children are more exposed to online risks, making this advocacy not only timely but necessary. The government, through agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Education (DepEd), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), has intensified campaigns to protect children from these threats. One of the most commendable actions is the  nationwide awareness drive . Local governments and schools have been conducting seminars on cyber safety, equipping barangay councils and children’s associations with knowledge to identify online risks and...

Embracing Heritage: A Journey Through Caoayan’s Local Treasures

A Resort Rooted in Tradition   Tucked away in the charming town of Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, the   Heritage Resort of Caoayan   isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a cultural experience. With its rustic architecture, native-inspired cottages, and proximity to the historic city of Vigan, the resort offers a peaceful escape that honors the region’s rich heritage. Guests are welcomed with warm Ilocano hospitality and surrounded by the sights and sounds of a community deeply connected to its roots.       Capturing Community through  To truly appreciate Caoayan, I ventured beyond the resort and into the heart of the community. I photographed local industries that define the town’s identity—like the traditional  salt-making process , where families harvest salt using age-old techniques along the coast. The shimmering salt beds and hardworking hands tell a story of resilience and pride. Another highlight was the  abel Iloko weaving , a craft passed down thro...

Not Perfect, But Progress: My Q2 Reflection

Image
Looking back on the past few months, I’ve come to appreciate how much I’ve grown both academically and personally. I didn’t just learn new concepts—I learned how to learn better. Whether it was through group discussions, hands-on projects, or late-night study sessions, I discovered how powerful collaboration and curiosity can be. My ability to think critically and manage my time has noticeably improved, and I’ve started to recognize my own strengths and areas for growth. Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, especially when juggling multiple deadlines or trying to grasp complex topics like math and history. Online learning had its own set of frustrations—technical glitches, distractions at home, and the occasional feeling of isolation. I also struggled with self-doubt, wondering if I was really keeping up with everything. To get through those tough spots, I leaned into small but meaningful habits. I broke tasks into manageable chunks...

A Tribute to the Teachers Who Lift Us

Image
Teacher’s Month is one of the most meaningful celebrations we have in school. It’s that time when we pause, reflect, and honor the people who’ve helped shape us—not just as students, but as individuals. This year’s theme,  “My Teacher, My  be more fitting. It reminds me of all the teachers who’ve guided us with patience, wisdom, and heart. And this year, we made sure to show them how much they mean to us. One of the most special moments was when we surprised our adviser,  Ma’am Remedios Martinez . She’s been more than just a teacher—she’s been our second mom in school. Whether we’re stressed, confused, or just having a rough day, she’s always there with a kind word or a gentle reminder to keep going. During our surprise, we gave her flowers and a heartfelt message, and seeing her smile made all the effort worth it. That photo of us as a class with her says it all—love, respect, and gratitude. We also surprised  Ma’am Regina Llagas , our research teacher. Research was...

The 2025 National Science Month Celebration, themed  “Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation,”  invites us to embrace uncertainty not as a threat, but as a frontier of possibility. In an era defined by rapid technological change, climate challenges, and evolving global dynamics, science becomes our compass—guiding us through the unknown with curiosity, creativity, and resilience. This theme underscores the importance of cultivating a mindset that welcomes exploration and innovation as tools for shaping a sustainable and inclusive future. Science and society are deeply intertwined. As we move into the coming decades, this relationship will only grow stronger. Scientific breakthroughs in fields like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and renewable energy will redefine how we live, work, and interact. Ang Laban ng Pilipino sa Climate Change

Image
The Philippines finds itself at the heart of the global climate crisis. Positioned along the Pacific typhoon belt and surrounded by vast coastlines, the country is exposed to both sudden disasters and gradual environment shifts. Each year, Filipinos brace for an average of 20 typhoons, many of which leave behind damaged homes, disrupted livelihoods, and overwhelmed communities. Rising sea levels, erratic rainfall patterns, and prolonged droughts have become part of everyday life. As the Climate Reality Project notes, these events are no longer isolated- they're becoming the norm. A major driver of these changes is the nation's continued dependence on fossil fuels. In 2023, coal and oil made up nearly 88% of the Philippines' energy sources, releasing large amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Deforestation adds to the problem, with over 14,000 square kilometers of forest lost between 2001 and 2023 due to logging, farming, and urban development. These activities n...
